Cheri's interest in patisserie started at 14 - first with baking cupcakes in school and then progressing on to bigger projects like cakes and fondant. By 19, she was juggling a Sociology degree and creating fondant cakes on the side to sell.
Immediately after graduation, with her heart set on the F&B industry, she started working at a small dessert start-up, Delicious Displays which specialised in creating custom cakes and cake pop bouquets. The experience in menu development, operations and running a start-up led to her next job at The Ice Cream & Cookie Co, where she worked as a Pastry Chef, for the next year and a half. In her duration there, she helped with production and contributed to growing the business - instrumental in the move to a kitchen three times the size of the one she had been hired for. Now, The Ice Cream & Cookie Co's desserts can be found in supermarkets island-wide & Red Mart.
After her stint at The Ice Cream & Cookie Co, she moved on to Les Amis Restaurant, a two star Michelin restaurant specialising in contemporary French Cuisine. During her time at Les Amis, she worked in the Pastry brigade under Chef Cheryl Koh, learning the art of bread in the boulangerie as well as assisting the rest of the pastry team, when the occasion calls for it.
She is passionate in patisserie and strongly believes in lifelong learning. In her free time, she can be found in her home kitchen experimenting on desserts and her current favourite - chocolates.
